Chablis, Gilbert Picq - 2019 - 750ml

Gilbert Picq’s village Chablis is sourced from 12 parcels of vineyards situated round the village of Chichee. It is a fantastic example of 100% unoaked Chardonnay and is worth every penny. The wine has amazing purity and precision with a steely freshness and seashell minerality underneath expressive citrus and apricot fruit.

Brothers Didier and Pascal Picq (sons of Gilbert), run this high quality 13 hectare estate which is based in the small village of Chichée, 3km south of the town of Chablis. Didier is the winemaker and Pascal takes care of the vineyards. They are working towards gaining organic certification with the use of sulphur kept to a minimum and only natural yeasts used. They use no oak, with all fermentation and ageing carried out in stainless steel. Their wines have always impressed us, age gracefully in bottle and offer an opulent style that still retains freshness and characteristic minerality.
